Coming of Age Just concluded! |
For its tenth consecutive year, Works in Progress presents dramas of compelling contemporary events in the intimate Nakano Theatre at Torrance Cultural Arts Center. Reception will follow each event. |
Works in Progress, formerly a program of the Cultural Services Division of the Torrance Community Services Department, is now produced as a partnership between Torrance Historical Society & Museum and John Powers and is sponsored by Torrance City Council, APC Fine Arts & Graphics, Arts Council of Torrance, Torrance Historical Society & Museum, and Torrance Women’s Club. |
Works in Progress celebrates the 110th anniversary of Korean immigration to the United States. As proclaimed by then President George W. Bush on the Centennial date, the first Korean immigrants to the United States arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii, aboard the SS Gaelic on January 13, 1903. Today, Korean Americans live throughout the United States, representing one of our largest Asian American populations. Through original dramatic stories, Works in Progress recognizes the invaluable contributions of Korean Americans to our Nation’s rich cultural diversity, economic strength, and proud heritage. |
